Last year around this time we covered the launch of Silverlinings, a trade publication serving network cloud architects. In the wake of Protocol’s sudden demise in November 2022, hope abounded within B2B tech that Silverlinings would pick up at least some of the enterprise slack.
One year on, Silverlinings continues to publish, though its audience remains small. According to Similarweb, Silverlinings attracted roughly 20,000 unique visitors a month. Overall visits reached 108,000 from Nov. 2023 through Jan. 2024. Silverlinings is indeed a deep trade, but that audience is on the low side — especially when contemplating placing paid content.
Here’s how Silverlinings reorganized its navigation bar during its first year:

The publication’s initial focus on cloud has been broadened to include AI and 5G, as well as new disciplines such as Modernization and Observability. This is typical of publications that adapt to analytics and reader and advertiser feedback.
Executive editor Diana Goovaerts covers multi-cloud, modernization and the data center. AI, 5G and API-related stories should be pitched to Dan Jones. Managing editor Liz Coyne covers observability.
