If you don’t listen to five episodes of a given podcast in a two-week period, Apple will now shut off your automatic download of that podcast. The idea, Apple says, is to make download stats mean something. Podcast advertisers will rejoice. Podcasters themselves will not, because they must countenance the fact that their audiences are smaller — in some cases, much smaller — than they thought. Semafor has the story.
