Techworker Launches in January

Do you care enough about tech workers to read and support a publication about them? Paul Bradley Carr hopes so. Next month he launches Techworker, “an independent news site for, and about, the most powerful workforce on Earth.” You may know Paul’s name from Pando, and going back a decade, from TechCrunch TV.

Tech Edit Spotlight: Pando

Pando, again, is in trouble. In June we published "Pando's Last Stand," covering the publication's quest to persuade 5,000 readers to subscribe at $100 a year -- by year end. With eight weeks to go, reported EIC Sarah Lacy and editorial director Paul Carr this week, subscriptions have plateaued at "a fraction above 3,100." In response, Pando has announced Pando Patrons, a supplemental fundraising effort.

Dreamforce Coverage Deconstructed

San Francisco will uncoil when Dreamforce ends today. Las Vegas can handle 160,000 people. South of Market can't. Salesforce did what it could, renting a cruise ship to house attendees. For our part we learned a lot by studying Dreamforce coverage -- including the nine-step process by which CEO Marc Benioff prepared his keynote speech. Every client should consider using this process as well.
